As a Birmingham based Fresh 48 Photographer I get to spend my time photographing lovely families bonding with their brand new baby who are only a few hours old.

I come to the hospital, birthing centre or your home 24-48 hours after the birth of your baby to capture some natural non-posed lifestyle images of your newborn and your family.

I TRULY believe that every MOTHER should be present in photos connecting with her new baby and family!

I am also happy to include older siblings, and if grandparents are visiting at the same time they are more than welcome to join in the fun to!

What is a Fresh 48 session?

A Fresh 48 Session is a very special photography session that aims to capture the very first few hours of your baby after birth.  They are very much a casual unposed documentary style sessions that take place within the first two days after your beautiful baby has been delivered.

Where and when is this going to take place?

These sessions typically take place at the place of birth (hospital or home).  They usually occur during the hours of daylight and within 48hrs of birth.

Do I need hospital permission?

You will need to ask and ensure that photographers are allowed in to take pictures.  If this isn’t allowed then they will be taken at your home.

Why is a Fresh 48 Session a must?

It’s important to understand that there are probably not many things in life that are as raw and emotional as childbirth.  It can be said that the first few hours and days after birth easily become a blur, memories and moments get lost in the “babymoon” fog.

That is why it’s so important to capture how beautiful you look as a new parent, I want you to remember how it felt admiring your baby and detail their newness after not long coming into the world.  It’s a chance to try and capture many of the firsts like feeding, bath time, maybe meeting brothers and sisters or family members for the first time like grandparents.

How long is the session?

It is approximately 90 minutes.

When is the best time to get these photographs done?

They are best taken during the daylight hours where possible and sometimes the day after birth because by then you will have had a little time to rest and feel more settled with yourself and baby.

When should I tell you to come?

You or someone else involved in the birth process should contact me after you go into labour so I can ensure my availability for your time frame.  If labour goes on for longer than expected then no worries we just schedule from there once little one is born.
